Imperial Metals has received a Mines Act permit from the Province of British Columbia, Canada, for the Red Chris mine, located 80km south of Dease Lake.
Imperial metals will mill 30,000t of ore per day at its wholly-owned Red Chris project and will carry out related open pit mining.
The mine is said to contain 301.5 million tonnes of reserves grading 0.359% copper and 0.274 grams per tonne gold.
The company submitted an application for a Mines‘ Act Permit in July 2010, following a ruling from the Supreme Court of Canada that the project is environmentally safe,
The Northwest Transmission Line (NTL) at Bob Quinn, which is expected to complete by May 2014, will provide power to Imperial’s Red Chris site.
About 38% of the detailed engineering at the mine has been complete by Imperial, which has procured major long lead items including the SAG mill, ball mill, primary crusher and truck fleet.
