First, Tom DeLay decided to go on ABC’s “Dancing with the Stars.”Now, one of DeLay’s long-standing opponents is getting in on the act.Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington, a non-profit government watchdog, is hosting a viewing party at a Capitol Hill bar next Monday to watch DeLay’s dancing debut on the show’s season premiere.An invitation sent today featured a doctored image of DeLay face on the dancing body of former rapper MC Hammer. The banner says: “It’s Hammer Time!!!” in reference to DeLay’s nickname “The Hammer” during his days in elected office.Melanie Sloan, the executive director of CREW, said that her organization set up the watch party to watch DeLay’s “continued downward spiral — or is that a pirouette?”During DeLay’s tenure in Congress, CREW dogged DeLay with a near constant stream of charges of violating ethics rules and campaign finance laws. Sloan estimates that her group issued more than one hundred press releases, legal filings and reports denouncing the former House majority leader. Despite the allegations, DeLay has never been found guilty of a serious abuse. He was dinged by the House ethics committee a few times, but was never found to have seriously violated House Rules. He was indicted on campaign finance charges in Texas in 2005,lacoste bulgaria, but the prosecutor has yet to bring the case to a jury. The Justice Department spent years looking into DeLay as part of a broad-ranging, influence-peddling investigation that centered on former Republican lobbyist Jack Abramoff. The investigation has been going on for more than five years – but DeLay has not been charged with a crime.Meanwhile, DeLay’s dancing partner, Cheryl Burke,ugg slovenija, lauded DeLay as a “brave man” for agreeing to do the show. “You know, he’s not going to be the best dancer of the bunch.
